One of the “must-do” touristy items on my list is to sail Sydney Harbour. I’ve done a little sailing in the past (thanks to Meredith) and wanted to try it on one of the best sailing areas in the world. This will be a rather uninteresting post because it was not the most exciting of days.
I forgot much more than I thought before stepping in the 25-foot boat (and by more than I thought just about everything). The group of three novices and I went out for a four hour sail with a sailing instructor who was a grizzled veteran and looked like he had spent the
last 30+ years on a sailboat.
In his hurried Australian accent, he tried to teach the fundamentals of sailing, but unfortunately I wasn’t able to pick up any of it. As a result, it was a four hour sailboat ride through Sydney Harbour, the significance of which should not be understated. However, sailing is not my thing. Not enough action and rather boring with the group I was with. If it were with friends (or I knew what I was doing), I’m sure I would have a blast. Nevertheless, I highly recommend the sailboat ride through Sydney to any visitors to the area.
But don't go hungover. There's a pretty good chance you'll get dizzy if not altogether seasick.
