"The 'ski' trip"

I’ve never skied before, and have always wanted to. As such, I was very excited to go on the ski trip and try it out for the first time. Much to my dismay, it was too early in the snow season and there hasn’t been a good snow up until this point (i.e. no skiing). Because we were such a large group, we were unable to reschedule for a weekend later in the snow season, so we just made the best of it.

On Saturday we hiked up to the tallest mountain in Australia. The mountains were more like the Smokey’s than the Rockies. And the hike was on a steel-grate walkway. Despite these relative short-comings, the hike was a lot of fun and there were some incredible views. Unfortunately I didn’t bring my camera, so I can’t post any pictures at this time.

Besides the hike, the weekend included some long nights at the bar and a trip to the “leisure center” (like a YMCA) in the town. All in all it was a fun trip, but it may require a weekend trip to NZ to get the skiing in before leaving the Southern hemisphere.
