"Australia = fraternity social?"

On Saturday night I went to a housewarming/birthday party at a Bainies house. It was themed a pirate party, and, like every other themed part I’ve gone to since graduating, wasn’t really expecting much participation. I did, however, try to make an effort as I always do.

Instead of being one of the few dressed in costume there, my outfit of a bandana and makeshift eye-patch and pirate shirt under-delivered. The Aussies go all-out for themed parties, and almost all of their parties are themed – from the way people dress to the drinks. At a party of 60 or so people, Captain Hook, Jack Sparrow, and Will Turner were all in attendance and attendees had the option of drinking “grog-rum” out of skulls.

In essence, fraternity parties do live on after college. I just had to go to Australia to find a proper one. All this was missing was some guy on an acoustic. . . and good-looking sorority girls.
